Is your business ready for AI? Take the practical readiness assessment

Score your business across opportunity, ownership, data, team confidence, governance and measurement, then get the right next step for your stage.

Short answerAI readiness is not technical sophistication. A business is ready for a first pilot when it has a valuable workflow, accountable owner, safe data rules, a human review step and a baseline it can compare. This six-question check shows which part is missing.

Score the six foundations

1. We can name a repeated workflow with a measurable cost, delay or missed opportunity.
2. A specific owner or manager will be accountable for the pilot.
3. We have rules for confidential, personal and sensitive information.
4. The people doing the work will help design and test the new workflow.
5. A human reviewer and escalation point are clear.
6. We can compare time, quality, risk and business outcome with a baseline.

The four dimensions behind readiness

Opportunity: a real workflow and measurable pain. People: an owner and team participation. Control: approved data, tools and review. Evidence: a baseline and decision rule. A weakness in any one can turn a promising demo into an abandoned experiment.

What to do after the assessment

If you are at foundations, read AI for business. If you are pilot ready, use the 30-day roadmap. If you are scale ready, focus on policy, an AI register, manager training and benefits tracking.

Frequently asked questions

Is this assessment a compliance audit?

No. It is an educational planning tool, not legal, privacy, cyber security or regulatory advice.

Do we need perfect data to be ready?

No. Many useful pilots work with approved documents or human-supplied context. You do need to know what data is being used and whether it is suitable.

Can a sole trader be AI ready?

Yes. The same principles apply; the owner simply holds more of the roles. Keep the workflow and measurement small.
